goReptiles started as a hobby and love for reptiles. It has since grown into a passion and respect for different species of reptiles and amphibians.
For about two years, I had been researching and asking for a bearded dragon, and my parents always said no. When I finally got them to say yes, there was always a catch. The popular one was to get my room redecorated and completed. Well, once that was done and they couldn't find another goal to meet, I still didn't get a bearded dragon
Well, when I was 16 years old (2003), I received my first leopard gecko. When all of my friends were asking for new cars, I wanted a reptile. I told my parents that they would get out cheap since I didn't want to drive and didn't want anything other than a small leopard gecko.
The reason that I opted to ask for a leopard gecko, was because I figured that hadn't gotten a bearded dragon was because of their size. I got the leopard gecko for my birthday and figured that size was the problem, but after getting my leopard gecko and all the starter supplies, I found out that if I had asked for the bearded dragon at that time, I would have gotten it.
Basically, anything was cheaper than a car, so if I wanted a green iguana, I probably could have gotten that. Ha.
It didn't matter what I asked for that year because a year later, I had three leopard geckos and I finally got my bearded dragon (17th birthday).
This was the start of a passion...
Now, I have leopard geckos, crested geckos, chahoua geckos, leachianus geckos, ball pythons, a pair of rosy boas, a pair of hognose snakes, one Brazilian rainbow boa, a pair of Russian tortoises, Brazilian and northern red foot tortoises, one Salmon birdeater tarantula, and one Mexican fireleg tarantula.
